He or she will juggle multiple accounts at different stages of the closing process and coordinate all of the necessary documentation, tracking what has been completed, and requesting what is left to be done.
Committed to Customer Service
To be successful in a title insurance company, you must provide extraordinary customer service. You must anticipate customers’ needs before they realize them and help educate homebuyers on the title process. In addition, you must be willing to answer questions and provide status updates even when they’re not required.
Must Love Research
As a title examiner you will search public records online or at the local courthouses, and examine titles. You will then summarize your findings from the document searches in a written form. You’ll also prepare the title insurance commitment and title policy. As committed as you must be to good customer service, there is also a lot of important administrative work that cannot be overlooked.
Willing to Educate
Part of the commitment to customer service is placing the customer’s needs first. One way this is done is by ensuring the customer understands the process from start to finish. This may not benefit a title company directly, but it benefits the customers and that is what is used to determine a successful closing. It pays to take the time to explain the process and the paperwork. It’s bad customer service for customers to sign anything they don’t understand. Title companies are moving from very paper-heavy environments to paperless ones. The future title insurance careers are going to be largely online.
