How to Optimize Your Trulia Page

Think of Trulia as an administrative assistant who never sleeps. She’s out there fielding questions about your listings when buyers are available, even if you aren’t. But if you don’t give her the information she needs to do her job, you’re not maximizing your marketing efforts. If you don’t have a Trulia account, sign up for one and then begin putting your page to work.
Optimizing your Trulia Page
Fill Out All Sections
While you may be tempted to leave something blank, doing so gives the appearance of it being unfinished and that is not the kind of impression you want to make on someone you haven’t met yet. Take the time to fill out all areas including the about message, your bio, and your social media profiles, as applicable.
Add a Photo
Your photo should be professional and recognizable as you. Don’t upload something from two decades ago or a picture snapped on a Saturday night that you cropped your friend out of. A professional headshot is a must here. Don’t leave the area blank because you don’t have a good picture. Your profile won’t look complete until you add one.
Decide on an Email Address
Trulia allows you to enter more than one email address but you have to select the primary one. This is important because the primary one is where your leads from this site will be sent. Use the email you use most for business as your primary email for Trulia. You don’t want to miss a lead.
Create a Personalized URL
If you don’t take the time to personalize your Trulia URL, you probably won’t want to share it with anyone. It’s long and full of characters. But Trulia gives you the opportunity to create a vanity URL under the Edit Personal Info section. You have up to 50 characters in the URL so you can use your name, company, even a nickname like “Mikesellshouses,” as long as it’s not already in use. Creating a vanity URL makes it easier for people to remember and much more marketing friendly.
Claim Your Listings
After you’ve built out your profile, take a look at your listings. Make sure all of your current listings are showing up in your profile. If not you’ll have to look them up on the site and claim them.
You can also submit listings for your sales and rental properties if you can’t find them on the site. Multiple listings can be submitted for free through a data feed, while single listings can be submitted manually. Your manually submitted homes will appear on Trulia in 15 minutes.
Online home searches have become the hottest way to find a home. If your Trulia profile is not optimized you’re missing a large segment of home buyers and leads.
